Premiere of 4000T Ultra Large Magnesium Alloy Thixomolding Machine

April 22, 2024

On 20 April 2024, the Bole injection moulding plant in Ningbo, China, hosted the premiere demonstration of the largest injection moulding machine operating with thixomolding technology, which is dedicated to magnesium alloys.

What is thixomolding technology?

In the thixomolding process, metal is dispensed in the form of chips and gradually brought to a processing temperature of 575°C to 620°C. The molten metal is then fed into the mould at a speed of 2,000 to 2,500 mm/s and compacted. The mould temperature is between 210 and 240°C and the cycle time between 30 and 60 seconds, similar to plastic processing technology.

Currently, Bole has quite a track record in the field of magnesium alloy moulding. Thanks to its patented technology, the concern is able to produce injection moulding machines with the largest injection size and has satisfactory solutions for material modification to achieve adequate anti-corrosion properties, high conductivity and higher strength.
